Fresh Food from Our Farms to Your Table
ABOUT US: A little history
The idea for The Bountiful Sprout was conceived in the later months of 2007 by
several folks from Dripping Springs and Wimberley. The word got around about
the first meeting being held at a local coffee shop. Judging by the number of
people attending and the fact that each person in attendance knew several more
interested families, it was obvious that this community was ready to have good
food available locally. Many great questions and concerns were raised, and it
became clear that we had a great bunch of people, resources, and a good amount
of spirit in this group.
Several meetings later, we placed our first trial order. We realized from the
chaos that ensued in getting and separating the order that we had much to learn
about how to do this successfully. As simple as it seemed to get people
together to buy food in bulk, we knew we had to put on our business hats and
structure a business with future growth and ease of operations in mind in order
to make the business as successful as we wanted it to be. Our vision was to
include many families and even eventually have a storefront. So, we visited
with a lawyer (also a member), picked out a name, elected a board, and formed
The Bountiful Sprout L.L.C. With this structure, we are not limited and can
grow into our vision of a fun gathering place that supports local producers and
is all about community-- feeding everyone in the process.
Now, in 2009, the board of managers is made up of President Heather Carter,
Producer Coordinator Larry Smith, Membership Coordinator Kris Thomas, Treasurer
Lisa Lawrence, Secretary Becky Lane, member Eric Gerber and member Alfonso
Hernandez. The board has been meeting every two weeks since the first meeting in
early February of 2008. Many of our members have contributed their time, energy
and ideas as well. Bountiful Sprout member Cindy Gerber applied for and was
selected as a subcontractor to manage our ordering process and pick up site. She
is instrumental in helping us run smoothly.
We truly believe The Bountiful Sprout will be the healthiest and most economical
option for food in our community. Thanks for your support!
